• "Red" plot is old man (Brian Cox) avenging death of his eponymous dog. Could be inverted sequel to "Ol' Yeller." Presumably more violent. #

• Prod. values are bad, like a made-for-Lifetime movie. Wrong subject matter though; maybe made-for-Animal Planet? #
• I hope the August-December romance vibes I'm picking up on don't lead to anything steamy. I'm in no hurry to see Brian's cox. #
• Brian Cox produced, no doubt sensing meaty lead role for himself, but it's remarkably boring for such hamfisted material. Big monologue dud. #

• As final act starts and revenge sputters into action it occurs to me: Eastwood would have nailed this performance. #
• Not to diss Brian Cox, who was a far superior Hannibal Lecter than scenery chewing Anthony Hopkins. But "Red" is a far cry from Gran Torino. #
