Not Forgetting Sarah Marshall

October 5th, 2008 by Dorrk.com

On a completely different topic, I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Now on DVD) again this weekend.

Written by and starring Jason Segel, FSM is a quite funny and sometimes touchingly ribald tale of heartbreak and egregious post-breakup emotional suffering. Segel is now on the fine sitcom How I Met Your Mother, but he became one of our favorites brilliantly playing Nick Andopolis on the classic Freaks & Geeks (for which the awesome special, previously limited edition “Yearbook” DVD set is being reissued next month, no doubt due to the success of FSM and F&G co-star Seth Rogen’s brilliant 2006 hit Knocked Up)

While FSM isn’t as riotously funny or profound as Knocked Up (it frankly needed more Paul Rudd), it nevertheless features on of the funniest things I’ve seen in quite some time: Segel’s musical puppet adaptation of Dracula, “A Taste of Blood.”

Here’s a preview, below; the stage version excerpted in the movie is mind-blowing. I could listen to this song over and over.
