About 6 months ago I posted about how I had really been enjoying Doves "Some Cities" and this album by Interpol. Well now I am listening to the first album by Doves called "Lost Souls."
I am totally blown away. It’s the best album I’ve heard in a long, long time. Incredibly catchy tunes, beautiful sounds, great understated guitar parts, a full cinematic kind of sound (which I always love). And what I really love is the change in tempo, the key changes, the fact that both Doves CD’s can sometimes feel so diverse that I wonder if my i-pod has skipped over to another band. I love it when bands can have more than one sound. So many can’t..they have only two speeds and one sound.
Yes, I would camp out for Scritti Politti tickets. Yes, I would go on a pilgrimage to see the home of the lead singer of T’Pau, and yes, I would proudly wear a Blow Monkeys T-shirt….but trust me on this. This album is fantastic. I love "Some Cities" but Lost Souls will please just about every non-communicative person on this blog.
I know nothing about them other than that they are from England. Maybe some of you are already listening to them. Anyway, if you get it (legally or illegally) make sure you get the version of Lost Souls with 15 tracks (as opposed to the Brit version with only 11). You want the whole thing.
