The American "The Office" sucks compared to the BBC version. I can barely watch it. Every character (other than Carrell) is so totally affected.
The American version has NONE of the subtlety of the British version. In the BBC version, you feel like you are a fly on the wall. The actors are subtled, not hamming it up. Some of the small moments (of flirtation, disgust, insanity) are almost unperceptible which makes it hillarious. The british actors do an awesome job.
In the American version, the characters are hammy and totally over the top. I’m reminded every second I’m watching a TV Sitcom.
It’s the difference between watching the original Spinal Tap and watching the extra scenes that they filmed years later for DVD’s where Christopher Guest and Michal McKean’s comedic acting ability goes right out the window.
