What About the Dems?

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

Yeah, I don’t think Christian conservatives will vote for Romney no matter what. At least not the mobiilized (Dobson/Religious right) population. The fact that Romney is from a cult–and if he is that appealing–would just play into their ideas of global government being taken over by Satan. His charisma will only [...]

RE: Why Couldn’t Rudy Win…No Matter What?

Rudy as Republican or as an independent. What’s to stop him from winning?

This presidential election is really going to test the strength of the diverse Republican coalition. I think that Rudy could easilywin in the general election, and he could be a unifying political figure. BUT. He may have trouble winning the Republican primary. however, [...]

Why Couldn’t Rudy Win…No Matter What?

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

It seems like every candidate being considered for President has some serious drawbacks. Romney is a mormon and right now separation of church and state issues are a concern for many people in this Bush era. McCain is well-liked by many, but Republicans seem to have it out for him and he has [...]

Tell them about Rudy

Who doesn’t love Giuliani?
It will be a shame if he’s not the next president.
I think Romney may be more appealling to social conservatives, and would be a decent choice, but Rudy is a clear winner.
If he loses the Republican primary, he should run as a Democrat and I’ll still vote for him.

Survivor and the pink team

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

This season of Survivor was filmed from late June through early August, with the news that this would be a "segregated" survivor coming on or around August 23rd. Being a semi-regular Survivor watcher I knew that this whole race thing would be done and gone within the first 4 or 5 episodes. That’s just how [...]

Jazzercise with Wolves

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

I just watched Dances With Wolves for the first time in probably 16 years (when Eric and I caught it during Thanksgiving break our first year in college. I believe we saw it the same day I first acquired a taste for gravy.)

Back then, I loved the movie. Now, not so much, but not exactly [...]

The Gayest Soccer Team

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

So we were on the train the other day and they were showing soccer highlights. It was in Chinese so I couldn’t understand, but I think it was UEFA Cup highlights and one of the soccer teams was wearing PINK jerseys! Pink!
My first question is: Who is this all-time loser team [...]

Surviving Segregation

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

Survivor sucks. It’s the same thing over and over. A few seasons was okay, but I can’t believe this show is still on. However, dividing it into races seemed like an interesting, non-PC and curiousity inducing thing to do. But now after only a few shows, the tribes have merged. [...]

New Bangkok Airport

September 30th, 2006 No Comments

Big news in our region. Bangkok has opened its new airport this week. Suvarnabhumi airport, unfortunately pronounced "So You Wanna Some Poon" will immediately be the big heavyweight airport in Southern Asia. Of course I’m partial to HKG, but I’m looking forward to seeing the new one in a few months. [...]

No wonder Eric hated it

Pretty in Pink was the product of a right-wing reactionary!
While amusing, I don’t actually find this essay very compelling. It doesn’t really seem to come to any conclusions; it’s more an attempt to "out" Hughes as a conservative.
What I did find surprising, however, was that John Hughes and P.J. O’Rourke co-edited the National Lampoon together. [...]

RE: RE: Clinton Loses It

September 25th, 2006 No Comments

Here’s some more refutation of Clinton’s impassioned defense today, in the form of highlighting passages of the Richard Clarke book Clinton himself cited that also show a non-committal approach to fighting Al Qaeda.
Particularly unpersuasive is this execerpt quoted from Clarke’s book:
Because of the intensity of the political opposition that Clinton
engendered, he had been heavily criticized [...]

Here, here, here, here and here Jonah Goldberg employs actual evidence to refute Clinton’s angry claims that conservatives failed to support his meager stikes against Bin Laden in the 1990s.

George Michael is Back? Do we care?

September 24th, 2006 No Comments

George Michael is launching his first tour in…I don’t know how long (was 1988’s Faith tour the last? I think it was).
He hates touring, but he’s back. He also said he hated being a celebrity, but he’s back. He also said he wasn’t going to record any more new music, [...]

Clinton Loses It

Why did Bill Clinton flip out in response to Chris Wallace asking him about whether he did enough to get Bin Laden? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYNI5RPOlp4 Quiet answers would have done him a world of good but he totally lost control. Bush faces more hostile questions than this everyday for the past 4 years.
I think it’s [...]

Lucky guy. I personally can’t wait to see the new Mel Gibson film. That era of history (with the Mayas and the Aztecs) is my favorite era. Hugh Thomas, who is an amazing historian and writer, writes about Latin [...]

That conversation with Scott eventually led us to a little chat about Dungeons and Dragon, a famously corrupting influence on the souls of young boys.
It sounded fun. Anyone up for a game?

Evidence of a Satanic ritual in England?
Just the other day Scott and I were discussing the questionable nature of some claims of Satanic Ritual Abuse.
I think it’s fair to say the sheep in the article above are probably not making it all up.
