Beckham and Posh just need to move to LA and play in the MSL. It’s going to end very badly for them in England–particularly if England keeps playing the way they have. The NYT has a front page story today on the Beckham phenomenon and backlash that is growing as his skills wane. Money paragraphs:
But Beckham’s high profile brings an unwelcome downside. He is a player "whose fame always generated expectations higher than he can deliver," John Carlin wrote in The Observer of London, so he often disappoints. His starriness and vanity, while less on display than usual this time — even his hair has been looking pretty normal — are easily lampooned.
The Brazilian star Ronaldo put his finger on it after Brazil beat England in the last World Cup, in 2002, and he and Beckham exchanged shirts.
"Normally when you swap shirts, especially after a game in the heat like that, they absolutely stink and are soaked in sweat," Ronaldo said. "So it was a surprise, to say the least, that Beckham’s shirt smelled only of perfume."
If Beckham came to the USA…..his looks alone could guarantee that his wife and he could be B list stars making the party circuit. That seems to be what they want. They’d get plenty of coverage in US magazine…or at least Australian versions of People Magazine.
