I am very tired as I have spent most of my day writing a 10 page memorandum on child custody law in Missouri.
Anyway, I wanted to throw in my two pennies worth about OBL resurfacing.
If, in fact, that OBL is stepping down and leaving a void; I am not convinced that leaves the door for imitators. I have a different take. I see a power void waiting to be filled by even more extreme terrorist groups. In my mind’s eye, the field is ripe for radical groups to grab a hold of the “Arab movement”.
Arafat is on death’s doorstep leaving a beleagured PLO to implode on a moment’s notice. If OBL is truly stepping down from terrorism, then angry militant Muslims are left with groups and leaders that have little impact. Hezzbollah and Hamas have done little to impact the political landscape. I think this is a good recipe for a radical organization to rise to the surface and, basically, say “Arafat is dead and was useless and Osama is a pansy. Follow us and we will achieve what they haven’t”. There will be a new galvinizing force that will fill the void. Who knows maybe it will be the Yankees?
Seriously for a moment, I think maybe PRN was alluding to this by mentioning the demographics.
