While I agree that Brian Lamb’s interviewing leaves something to be desired, there is something good to say about him:
C-SPAN was his idea and he made it happen. He is the brains behind the whole operation, which is possibly the most valuable source of political information in the U.S.
I also appreciate he very carefully he keeps the network non-partisan. I make fun of how robotic the anchors are, but it’s a wonderful thing that they always seem more interested in getting an answer from their guests than making a point themselves.
Lamb also makes his guests feel at ease without being as fawning as Larry King, and he actually lets them talk, unlike Charlie Rose.
His biggest fault, however, is the he doesn’t always seem to be paying attention. That’s the main source of most of his dumb questions.
